Eight things people say about baby sleep that are simply not true

Eight things people say about baby sleep that are simply not true

The four I hear most:

  • "Less day sleep means deeper night sleep." Usually the reverse - sleep begets sleep, and an overtired baby wakes more.
  • "Cereal in the bottle keeps them full till morning." It does not work, and it is not safe.
  • "Don't hold him too much or he'll get used to it." You cannot spoil a newborn with attention.
  • "He should sleep in total silence." Steady background noise actually helps.

Which one were you told most often?
