She told him it happens sometimes and nothing about what would help. That gives him anxiety and no information. Saying nothing would have been better than half the message.
I mean, I faked it for most of my marriage to keep the peace, and that's part of why there isn't a marriage anymore. Honesty was right. Say it kindly, say it once, then show him what works.
